Meet Kate Schacterle, MSW, LISW-S
I'm Kate Schacterle, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Designation (LISW-S) in Ohio, specializing in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and related conditions. I work with children, adolescents, and adults using evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I believe therapy should be an active process where you not only feel heard but also leave each session feeling empowered to move toward the life you want. Together, we'll work to reduce the power fear and anxiety has over your decisions so you can live with greater flexibility, confidence, and freedom.
Whether you're seeking therapy for yourself, your child, or your family, my goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel understood while receiving treatment grounded in the latest evidence-based research.
When I'm not working with clients, you can usually find me exploring Cleveland's food scene, spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball, traveling, or enjoying live music.
I know reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, and I'm honored to be part of your journey. If you're ready to begin, I'd love to connect and help you take the next step toward recovery.
My Professional Background
I received by Bachelors degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences from University of Massachusetts Amherst and my Masters in Social Work at Case Western Reserve University as a Leadership Fellow. I have worked directly with individuals with OCD for several years and have served as OCD Expert and Trainer at large healthcare organization, where I trained other clinicians in how to detect, diagnose, and support individuals with OCD utilizing evidence-based practice.
I also have several years of experience in clinical research studying emotion regulation in preschool children and micro-facial expressions associated with dysregulation. I have also researched impacts of Community Empowerment and Education programs within communities experiencing significant poverty. Outside of clinical research, I led a committee at a large healthcare organization to implement research infrastructure and protocol and trained clinicians in evidence-based research practices.
I believe in the blend of art and science within mental health care and look forward to supporting individuals in reaching their potential whether that be with a client or a fellow clinician. Please feel free to reach out.
